This week’s Song of the Week is Loud Places by critic’s favourite Jamie xx!
Born in London, UK, Jamie Smith made waves in the music industry with his indie/pop/techno band The xx, whose first album in 2009 titled ‘xx’ is still regarded as one of the best albums created in the decade. Regarded as one of the best music producers and remixers in the world, Jamie has worked on songs for the likes of Drake, Radiohead, and UK high-flyers Adele and Florence + The Machine. The song Loud Places features on Jamie xx’s album In Colour, released in early 2015. The song features vocals by Romy, who also appears on the track SeeSaw on the same album.
Loud Places feels really light, and effortlessly mixes an easy listening chill vibe with strong-yet-subtle dance beats. Jamie is a natural at doing that, and probably does it better than anybody else. You only have to listen to the rest of the album for proof of that.
I hope you enjoy this song, and as always have a great week with lots of love from The Culture Cove!
