The Forgotten Shows – 52 Anime Review

Welcome to our 52 Anime Review!

Soon, you will see our ranking of all fifty anime shows that we’ve seen and reviewed here on The Culture Cove. I said it during the thirty anime review, and I’ll say it again: don’t assume that because a show is ranked #52, #50, #40, #30 or whatever, that it is a bad show. We’ve only reviewed shows on here that we’ve seen the whole way through, which means even with the worse of the shows we’ve reviewed, it was good enough for us to watch to its conclusion!

The problem is that it’s hard to actually make those words mean anything. You’re natural to assume that last place is a bad show, but that’s not necessarily the case. There’s plenty of shows I’ve seen that, for one reason or another, I couldn’t bring myself to even finish.

So, here’s a list of the forgotten shows – the shows that we started to watch but never finished, the shows that will probably never be fully reviewed here on The Culture Cove.

Note: these are all in alphabetical order, so if you’re looking for a certain show it shouldn’t be too hard to find!

Big Order animeBig Order (Action) – Was actually a pretty good show, just struggled to pull me in at a time when there was a lot of stronger action anime.

Cheating Craft (Action-comedy) – One of those small, 10-minute show series. Decent idea, but doesn’t seem to have any direction.

Clannad AnimeClannad (Drama) – One of the most highly rated anime series of all time, but lacked a sense of realism for me, and was far too obsessed on looking cute.

Erased (Drama) – Supposedly a fantastic series. Tried to watch when it was being aired, but found it too dull in its early stages. May revive this one!

Golden Time AnimeGolden Time (Comedy) – A pretty cheap romantic comedy in the first place, and I just didn’t find it very funny!

Happiness! (Comedy) – Not even sure why I tried this. Far too sweet.

Invaders of the Rokujyoma!? (Comedy) – the kind of harem story that anime is renowned for. Was fun for a bit, but then realised how thin and stupid it all is.

Kokoro ConnectKokoro Connect (Romance) – Decent idea, but the characters were really unrealistic, and generally boring.

Lord Marksman and Vanadis (War) – You will struggle to find a cheaper show than this. Decent fun, but the crude mix of serious war and cringe-inducing anime sexuality can only go so far.

avatar_a2ad69a99228_128Myriad Colors Phantom World (Fantasy) – Very bright, in appearance and nothing else. Too childish in the end.

Myself; Yourself (Romance) – Seems like a decent story, but like Clannad, is far too obsessed with being cute.

Parasyte AnimeParasyte -The Maxim- (Action) – Actually looked pretty good, but personally never connected with main character, or the terribly voiced parasite.

Rokko -Braves of the Six Flowers- (Action) – While the characters seemed okay, very average animation and a strange plot put me off here.

Taboo Tattoo animeTaboo Tattoo (Action) – Released at a similar time, and marketed in a similar way as shows like Kiznaiver and Bungou Stray Dogs, except this doesn’t have any of the character, or any sort of credible plot.

White Album 1 & 2 (Romance) – Actually really liked the first episode of WA2, but felt the need to watch WA1 first, which is just so bland.

I hope this list adds some weight to my beginning statement. There’s some highly rated shows here, but sometimes a show just won’t sit right. We’ve all been there!

However, fifty-two shows have battled through my incredibly short attention span, delivering enough interest for me to spend my time on them. Yes, some were better than others, but they all got watched nonetheless, which is more than can be said for the shows above!
