The all female band formed in Washington, USA in 2010. Fronted by the vocals of Julia Shapiro, the band made a name for themselves in the local indie scene through their provocative imagery and a demo tape titled Fuck Chastity Belt, quickly becoming renowned for political and gender challenging lyrics reminiscent of the 90’s feminist Riot Grrrl punk movement that were established in Washington before releasing their debut album No Regerts in 2013, intentionally spelt incorrectly and featuring the above song at number two. They have since followed that up with two more albums released under a different label, the most recent release – I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone (2017) – was primarily recorded in Portland and is a much more personal album then their previous works.
With melodramatic tones running through, Seattle Party is a really atmospheric piece of indie music with quirky lyrics creating an enjoyable contrast. Simple at heart, this melancholy song has a tangible sense of freedom about it, making this a deeply enjoyable track to listen to at any occasion!
