This week’s Song of the Week is Hold Me Down by Mansionair. While you’re reading this I’m actually on holiday in Southern Spain, so I thought I would leave you with one of my favourite and most treasured sounds.
Mansionair are an all-male synth-pop trio hailing from Sydney, Australia. Their debut signle, the aformentioned Hold Me Down, quickly gained hype in 2014, and gave them the platform to do what they do today. Having gone on and released their debut EP Hold Me Down under the ultra-popular Chvrches’ own label Goodbye Records, they went on to support them in their tours of the UK and USA in 2015, while also supporting British group Alt-J – whom with they share a very similar sound – on their tour of Australia.
This is an incredibly smooth song, and just has such a sweet, springtime vibe to it. It’s a long song, and it’s one that changes its feel and emotion throughout, but it keeps that smooth, controlled beat going from start to finish. Accompanied by the beautiful vocals of Jack Froggatt, this is truly an incredible piece of music.
I hope you have time to listen to this song, as you will certainly not be disappointed. And as always have a great week, with lots of love from The Culture Cove!
